Rep. Chad Reichard and Sen. Doug Mastriano have announced that the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) has allocated $2.4 million in grants for various projects across Franklin County.
“These grants are strategic investments in Franklin County’s economic future,” said Reichard. “Reliable water and sewer systems and modern transportation infrastructure are critical to attracting employers, supporting existing businesses and ensuring our communities can grow responsibly. This funding helps lay the groundwork for long-term job creation and private investment. It was a pleasure working with Sen. Mastriano to secure this funding.”
Several local municipalities will receive Small Water and Sewer Program grants: Greencastle is set to receive $337,500 for phase I of a wastewater collection system replacement project; Mont Alto Municipal Authority will get $425,000 for well development; Quincy Township is awarded $64,600 for a bulk water station project; and Washington Township Municipal Authority will obtain $100,000 to modernize and rehabilitate the Cold Springs pumping station.
The CFA’s Pennsylvania Small Water and Sewer Program supports small-scale water and sewer infrastructure initiatives, including construction, improvement, expansion, or repair of water supply or sanitary sewer systems.
Senator Mastriano commented on the importance of these investments: “Investing in infrastructure is investing in the future of Franklin County. These projects will strengthen the foundation of our communities by improving essential services and enhancing transportation networks. I’m proud to work alongside Rep. Reichard and the Commonwealth Financing Authority to deliver these resources that will help families, businesses and local governments thrive for generations to come.”
In addition to water-related projects, Multimodal Transportation Fund grants were also announced: Antrim Investment Group, LLC will receive $400,000 for constructing Helens Drive and related pedestrian infrastructure at The Heritage Hills Retirement Community in Antrim Township; Waynesboro is allocated $273,037 to install streetlights along Walnut Street; Montgomery Township gets $550,000 for building a connector road between Corner Road and Fort Loud Road (PA Route 75); Washington Township receives $205,000 for preliminary engineering on a 0.74-mile extension of Washington Boulevard from SR 997 intersection to SR 316.
The Multimodal Transportation Fund aims to promote economic development by supporting safe and reliable transportation systems throughout Pennsylvania.
