Senator Doug Mastriano is set to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States Army. The event will take place on Monday, June 9, at noon in the Main Rotunda of the Pennsylvania Capitol Building in Harrisburg.
Army Colonel Gerard York will serve as the keynote speaker for the occasion. Col. York is notably the grandson of World War I Medal of Honor recipient Sgt. Alvin C. York. Sgt. York’s heroic actions during a significant series of battles included killing up to 25 German soldiers and capturing at least 132 others. His story was later portrayed in the 1941 film “Sergeant York,” which received multiple Academy Awards.
The celebration can be watched live on Senator Mastriano’s website, Facebook, Instagram, and X platforms.
