Rep. Scott Perry, a current member of the U.S. Congress representing Pennsylvania’s 10th district, shared his views on several issues through a series of tweets. Perry, who has served in Congress since 2013 after replacing Todd Platts, expressed his opinions on crime rates and migration, government funding decisions, and layoffs within the Department of Education.
In a tweet posted on March 11, 2025, Perry challenged statements made by the mayors of Denver and Chicago regarding crime rates and illegal migration. He stated that “Officer Gualtieri told me the Denver and Chicago mayors who claimed last week that there’s no correlation between increased crime rates and illegal migration are totally wrong.”
On the same day, Perry addressed his vote to keep the government operational amidst discussions of a shutdown. In his words, “I voted today to keep the government open while many tried to shut it down… We need a balanced budget, not keep letting Washington elites waste money and then ask for more.” This was only his second time voting for a Continuing Resolution (CR), emphasizing the need for fiscal responsibility.
On March 12, 2025, Perry commented on recent changes within the Department of Education. He tweeted about what he perceives as necessary reductions in bureaucracy: “The layoffs at the Department of Education are a significant move towards slashing a bloated bureaucracy that cares little about educating our children.”
