Fannett-Metal Senior High School issued the following announcement on May 15.

Hello Fannett-Metal school community.

As the end of the year starts to wind down, we wanted to provide some details for events pertaining to graduation and other activities. Please understand that these plans are subject to change based on restrictions from COVID-19.

GraduationCaps and gowns will be available for pick up from the high school office May 18 or 19 from 9am-3pm. Before seniors can receive their caps and gowns, they will need to complete the student survey from Mrs. Moore. The survey is available for completion on her webpage or complete in person before cap and gown pickup. The traditional Graduation ceremony scheduled for May 29, 2020 is cancelled because Governor Wolf has not moved Franklin County into the green phase.

At this point, Fannett-Metal is going to pursue a virtual option. Students and families need to call 717-349-3073 to schedule a time-slot for June 1, 2020 from 1-4pm or June 3, 2020 from 1-8pm.

Each senior student will dress in their cap and gown, process across the stage, receive their diploma cover, and flip their tassel. A total of six people, wearing masks, may join each senior inside the gymnasium. This virtual option will serve as a backup to the traditional ceremony make-up date of June 26, 2020 (rain date June 27, 2020).

The district will have a traditional ceremony in June if Governor Wolf has moved Franklin County into the green phase. If this traditional ceremony is cancelled, the virtual graduation will be released. At that time, administration will hand deliver to students a diploma, a copy of the virtual graduation, and collect the cap and gown.

It is the hope of the district to make this ceremony as special and memorable as possible. BaccalaureateA virtual Baccalaureate Service, under the direction of the Path and Amberson Valleys’ Ministerium, will be posted the week of May 25, 2020.

The service will be available on the Fannett-Metal School District Facebook page and Fannett-Metal School District website for those interested in viewing this event. Locker cleanoutStudents will return textbooks, library books, computers, chargers, and any school property on June 4, 2020 from 8-4 pm (last name A-M) and June 5, 2020 from 8-4 pm (last name N-Z). Students will also pick up personal belongings and receive their report cards at this time.

Only School personnel are allowed in the building. During the drop off and pick up, guests need to stay in their vehicles and items will be exchanged in the driveway. Only immediate family members will receive student materials. YearbooksThe Yearbook Club is hopeful that Jostens, the publisher, will have the yearbook publication completed and delivered in time for distribution during locker cleanout. In order to expedite distribution please bring the "Pick UpTicket" that was sent home at the end of May. Yearbook orders need paid in full before or on distribution day.

In the event, yearbooks are not delivered in time, new information will be posted on the school website, Facebook, and @FM_Yearbook on Twitter. MedicationsMedications still in the school building can be picked up during the locker clean out days As we approach these end of the year events, please know that there are many moving parts and changes may need to take place. The safety of our students and staff is a top priority. We will all need patience thru these trying times. We will continue to provide updates as needed
