Genbusiness011

Fannett  issued the following announcement on Sept. 8.

The Franklin County Commissioners today adopted a resolution supporting the Pennsylvania Commission for the United States Semiquincentennial known as America250PA.

Established by the Pennsylvania legislature and Gov. Wolf, America250PA is part of a nationwide effort to plan, encourage, develop and coordinate the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the United States’ founding, which will culminate on July 4, 2026, 250 years after the Declaration of Independence was signed in Philadelphia. America250PA will also highlight the Commonwealth’s role as the birthplace of democracy as well as the impact Pennsylvanians have made on the nation’s past and will continue to make on its present and future.

America250PA is comprised of current and former Pennsylvania leaders, including private citizens and industry representatives. Locally, former Franklin County Commissioner Bob Thomas and Franklin County Visitors Bureau Tourism Director Janet Pollard represent Franklin County through America250PA advisory committees.

By endorsing America250PA, Franklin County will support the commission’s mission to educate, preserve, innovate and celebrate as well as its goal to engage all citizens across Pennsylvania’s 67 counties through events, programs and initiatives leading up to the semiquincentennial in 2026. Franklin County also applauds America250PA’s goal of inspiring the Commonwealth’s next generation as well as the commission’s effort to make the nation’s 250th anniversary an inclusive, once-in-a-lifetime experience for all Americans.
