In a recent announcement, Representative Dan Moul (R-Adams) revealed that several fire and ambulance companies in the 91st Legislative District have been awarded significant state grants. The grants, totaling nearly $282,000, were distributed through the 2023-24 Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program.

Moul emphasized the importance of supporting local firefighters and emergency medical personnel, stating, "Here in Adams County, we rely heavily on our local firefighters and emergency medical personnel to be there in emergency situations to protect us and our property. These grants will help them to acquire the equipment and staffing they need."

The grants can be utilized for various purposes including the construction or renovation of a unit's station, equipment purchase or repair, training, debt reduction, education and public outreach, as well as staff recruitment and retention efforts. This funding will undoubtedly contribute to the enhanced capabilities of these essential emergency response teams.

The 12 recipients of this year's grants in the 91st Legislative District are as follows:

- Adams Regional Emergency Medical Service - $30,000

- Alpha Fire Co. No.1 Inc. (fire) - $15,000

- Alpha Fire Co. No.1 Inc. (EMS) - $10,000

- Barlow VFC Inc. - $13,840

- Buchanan Valley Vol. Fire Dept. Inc. - $15,000

- Cashtown Community Fire Dept. - $15,000

- Fairfield Community Fire Co. - $14,812

- Fountain Dale Vol. Fire Dept. - $15,007

- Gettysburg Fire Dept. Inc. - $16,174

- Greenmount Community Fire Co. - $13,062

- Southeastern Adams Vol. Emergency Services - $67,979

- United Hook and Ladder Co. No.33 - $55,952

It is worth noting that all fire companies, EMS services, and volunteer rescue squads are eligible to apply for this annual grant program, which is funded solely with state gaming proceeds. However, the funding amounts are contingent on the recipients filing their grant agreements with the Office of State Fire Commissioner by July 1, 2024.

These grants will undoubtedly have a significant impact on the local fire and EMS companies, allowing them to enhance their capabilities and better serve their communities. The support provided by the state government is crucial in ensuring the safety and well-being of the residents in the 91st Legislative District.

Representative Dan Moul continues to advocate for the needs of his district and recognizes the vital role played by these dedicated emergency response teams.
