HARRISBURG – In efforts to alleviate congestion in Shippensburg, a significant development has been announced. Rep. Torren Ecker and Sen. Greg Rothman disclosed that the borough is set to receive a $357,172 grant for the Dykeman Road Extension project.
"Shippensburg has witnessed an increase of traffic, straining existing road infrastructure," remarked Rep. Torren Ecker. He further added, "Thanks to this funding, the long-awaited project will help reduce congestion by providing alternative routes for drivers."
The Dykeman Road Extension project aims to provide motorists with an alternate route around Shippensburg, ultimately easing severe congestion on King Street (U.S. Route 11), Orange Street, Queen Street, Fayette Street, and other nearby roads. Sen. Greg Rothman emphasized the impact of these funds, stating, "These funds will improve traffic flow and ensure greater safety for those who live, work and shop in Shippensburg for years to come."
This crucial transportation improvement initiative secured approval from the Commonwealth Financing Authority, an independent agency of the Department of Community and Economic Development, through the Multimodal Transportation Fund. The fund is dedicated to offering grants that support economic development and promote safe and reliable transportation.
The project's completion is anticipated to not only enhance traffic conditions but also contribute to the overall well-being of individuals in Shippensburg for the foreseeable future.
