A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to Dekalb County on September 26, 2024. The request, sent by DeKalb Times, a media organization dedicated to comprehensive and accurate news coverage of local governmental affairs, asked for specific records related to vendor payments.
The request specifically asked for a list of all payments made to vendors from January 1, 2024, until September 26, 2024. The desired information includes the vendor's name, the date of the transaction, a description of the transaction, and the amount paid.
As members of DeKalb Times, we believe that access to public records is crucial for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. We also requested a fee waiver as media professionals given our role in disseminating information.
We are awaiting a response from Dekalb County and will continue to pursue this matter in our commitment to transparency and accountability in local government.
