Senator Doug Mastriano has announced a significant financial development for Mercersburg Borough. The area will receive $2 million in state funding aimed at constructing a new water treatment facility.

"These state dollars will ensure local residents are not burdened with the significant cost of this important project," stated Mastriano. "This water treatment facility will be an asset for our local community for years to come."

The project plans include building a water treatment facility, along with a 300,000-gallon water storage tank and a pumping station capable of processing 500 gallons per minute.

The funding is structured as a low-interest loan spanning 20 years. The interest rate is set at 1.74% for the first five years, increasing to 2.18% from year six through year twenty.

The Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) is providing the financial backing for this initiative. PENNVEST operates as an independent state agency that supports sewer, stormwater, and drinking water projects throughout Pennsylvania communities.
