State Rep. Torren Ecker | Pennsylvania 193rd Legislative District
Several projects in Adams and Cumberland counties will receive more than $1.7 million in funding, as announced by Rep. Torren Ecker. The grants aim to improve community facilities through the Local Share Account via the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA).
Ecker expressed gratitude for the support, stating, “These grants will have a positive impact on so many residents and will help improve the quality of life in our communities.” He also thanked the CFA for recognizing these projects' importance.
The approved grants include:
- Biglerville Borough Police Department: $25,142 for license plate readers.
- Shippensburg University Foundation: $323,381 for equipment in chemistry, biotechnology, and engineering labs.
- Lake Mead Municipal Authority: $239,800 for grinder pumps.
- New Oxford Borough: $317,901 to reconstruct Commerce Street.
- Penn Township Volunteer Fire Department: $300,000 for communications system upgrades.
- Reading Township: $142,218 for playground equipment and a pavilion; $29,469 for a recycling building.
- Possum Valley Municipal Authority: $68,835 for a work truck.
- South Newton Township: $256,849 to replace four culverts.
Eligible projects must be in the public interest and aim to enhance citizens' quality of life. Additionally, Ecker secured $802,372 from the Public School Facility Improvement Grant Program for Upper Adams School District's roof and window replacement project at Upper Adams Intermediate School.
