Reps. Dan Moul and Kate Klunk attended an event in Hanover organized by the Adams-Hanover Allied Veterans Council, marking the annual send-off for U.S. military veterans traveling to Washington, D.C. The gathering took place at the Elks Club of Hanover, where nearly 40 veterans prepared for a one-day, all-expenses-paid bus trip to visit war monuments in the nation's capital. This initiative is funded through private donations.
"The monuments serve to educate the public about our nation’s history and the brave Americans who fought and died for freedom and liberty all around the world," said Moul. "It’s exciting to know these men and women, who served in our nation’s military, will have the opportunity to see these grand symbols of American endurance up close and know their contribution is appreciated."
Klunk expressed gratitude towards organizations supporting this event: "Thank you to the organizations that contributed to this event to honor and show appreciation to our veterans. This is just a small token of our community’s gratitude for all our veterans have given and sacrificed, so we may live in a free America."
Many of those participating are Vietnam-era veterans. Moul and Klunk have consistently participated in this annual send-off over the past five years.
