Rep. Paul Schemel of Franklin County has officially commenced his fifth term in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, taking the oath of office on Tuesday. As he embarks on the 2023-24 Legislative Session, Schemel outlines several key priorities that he intends to focus on.
Schemel's agenda includes measures aimed at protecting unborn children and curbing government overspending. He is also committed to ensuring election accuracy and accountability. Additionally, Schemel plans to advocate for a more business-friendly environment by reducing regulatory burdens and promoting taxpayer rights through increased government transparency.
Discussing the challenges ahead, Schemel stated, "The coming legislative session is sure to present challenges, as we are grappling with essentially tied control between Democrats and Republicans in the House." He emphasized his dedication to representing the interests of southern Franklin County by saying, "My intention is to continue carrying feedback from southern Franklin County to Harrisburg, where I try to vote in line with the wishes of my constituents and evaluate the merits of each proposal before me."
