Several fire companies and emergency medical service providers in Adams County have been awarded nearly $175,000 through the Office of the State Fire Commissioner's Fire Company and Emergency Medical Service Grant Program. The announcement was made by Representative Torren Ecker (R-Abbottstown).

"This funding will further help the brave men and women of Adams County who help us in our times of need," Ecker stated. "We not only owe them a debt of gratitude, but also the support they need so they have the needed equipment and training to help others."

The recipients of the funding include:

- Adams Regional Emergency Medical Services: $30,000.

- Alpha Fire Co.: $16,106.

- Arendtsville Community Fire Co.: $16,322.

- Bendersville Community Fire Co.: $16,106.

- Irishtown Fire Co.: $14,170.

- Northeast Adams Fire and EMS: $15,030.

The grant is intended to support emergency services by providing funds for facilities, equipment, debt reduction, training, and education. Career departments may also use this funding for overtime costs related to backfilling positions during firefighter training.
