State Representative Rob Kauffman has announced the approval of $650,000 in funding for pedestrian improvements in Chambersburg Borough. The funds will be allocated to enhance pedestrian infrastructure on South Water Street at the site of the former Southgate Shopping Center.

"Pedestrian improvements are a key piece of the overall project to redevelop the former Southgate Shopping Center into a planned mixed-use residential neighborhood," said Kauffman. "It was my pleasure to advocate for this funding and I look forward to seeing the improvement plan progress forward."

The funding is sourced from the Commonwealth Financing Authority’s Multimodal Transportation Fund, which aims to support economic development and ensure safe transportation systems for Pennsylvania residents.
