State Representative Rob Kauffman of Franklin has announced a significant allocation of state funding aimed at enhancing community projects and local schools within the 89th Legislative District. The funding is sourced from Pennsylvania's Local Share Account (LSA) and Public School Facility Improvement Grant (PSFIG) programs.

Kauffman emphasized the importance of these grants, stating, "Our local municipalities and schools work hard to provide safe, healthy facilities and services for the communities they serve, and these grants go a long way in helping to afford needed repairs and upgrades." He added that he was pleased to support initiatives that assist first responders, provide affordable housing, and improve school facilities.

Several projects have been earmarked for this funding. The Chambersburg Police Department will receive $327,465 to acquire new vehicles and equipment. Habitat for Humanity has been allocated $225,395 to purchase land for affordable housing development. The Marion Athletic Association will benefit from $50,988 for field maintenance equipment. Additionally, New Franklin Volunteer Fire Company is set to receive $675,000 for a new fire engine.

Kauffman also collaborated with Senator Doug Mastriano to secure $677,000 in LSA funding for Franklin Fire Company No. 4. "We both saw the value in this request and eagerly teamed up to advocate for the money," said Kauffman regarding the acquisition of a Pierce Enforcer Custom Pumper Fire Engine.

The LSA program is funded through gaming revenues as stipulated by the PA Race Horse Development and Gaming Act. These funds are distributed by the Commonwealth Financing Authority to support public interest projects across Pennsylvania.

In addition to community projects, Kauffman secured PSFIG funding amounting to $791,841 for roof repairs at Fayetteville and Scotland elementary schools within the Chambersburg School District. This program is managed by the Department of Community and Economic Development and targets facility improvements in public school districts.
