Hampton township issued the following announcement on Dec. 1.

Township Winter Maintenance Along Roadways

GOOD MORNING HAMPTON TOWNSHIP...happy first significant snow fall of the season!!!

As always, our Community Service Department road crew is out on their designated routes working on keeping the roads safe for the motoring public.

During the winter season, our crews maintain all Township-owned roadways as well as numerous State roadways except Route 8.  Middle Road and Duncan Avenue are owned and maintained by Allegheny County.  Depending on the amount of snow and/or ice, as well as the number of crew members and equipment available, a route may take 3 to 5 hours to complete before they start their route again.

Residents can help our crews by taking the following steps:

- Do not park on Township streets, including cul-de-sacs.

- Follow the 10 ft. rule:  keep basketball hoops, parked cars in driveways, and non-permanent seasonal items 10 ft. from the edge of the street.

- Do not shovel/blow snow from driveways and sidewalks onto a street (Township Ordinance No. 329).

- Trim trees so that the branches do not extend beyond the back of the curb and a minimum of 14 ft. high.  This allows the Township's larger trucks to drive through the neighborhoods without damaging equipment.

Your help this winter is much appreciated...stay safe!!
