Gettysburg College recently issued the following announcement.

The Eisenhower Institute at Gettysburg College alongside Spotlight PA and its founding members—The Philadelphia Inquirer, Trib Total Media, PennLive/The Patriot-News, and WITF—today announced a gubernatorial debate held on Gettysburg’s campus April 19 at 7 p.m. This debate leading up to the spring primary will feature Republican candidates Joe Gale, Charlie Gerow, Melissa Hart, and Nche Zama. Others may be added.

This 90-minute event will be held before a live audience, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it will not be open to the general public. It will also be broadcast statewide by PCN and livestreamed online by participating media companies. Topics discussed will center on the most pressing matters facing Pennsylvanians.

“Our goal is to inform and empower Pennsylvania voters as they head to the polls,” said Eisenhower Institute Executive Director Tracie Potts. “It is imperative that voters have an opportunity to evaluate their options, to compare what candidates say to what’s important in their everyday lives. Given our commitment to nonpartisan discourse and critical analysis of issues, the Eisenhower Institute is proud to host this debate.”

A Democratic gubernatorial debate is not scheduled, as Josh Shapiro is uncontested in the Democratic primary.

A limited number of seats are available for Gettysburg College students, faculty, and staff. Campus community members can register via engageGettysburg by April 15.

Members of the media must pre-register to attend and cover the debates. Please RSVP to Tracie Potts at tpotts@gettysburg.edu.
