Rep. Scott Perry, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Pennsylvania’s 10th district since 2013, has expressed his views on various international and domestic issues through recent tweets. Perry, who succeeded Todd Platts in Congress and previously served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, has been vocal about his positions on U.S. foreign policy and government spending.
On December 11, 2024, Rep. Scott Perry shared a tweet quoting Secretary Blinken's statement: "No one has done more to support Israel than Joe Biden." He criticized President Biden for several actions, including removing the FTO designation from the Houthis, waiving sanctions on Iran, withholding arms shipments to Israel, holding Israel funding hostage to fund Ukraine, and demanding a ceasefire.
Later that day, Perry tweeted about the financial powers granted to Congress by the Founders: "The 'Power of the Purse' was specifically granted to Congress by the Founders to serve as a check and balance." He criticized what he described as gross mismanagement and inverted priorities by rewarding close to a trillion dollars in an eleventh-hour decision by what he termed a failed administration.
On December 12, 2024, Perry addressed human rights concerns involving Turkey: "Turkey has detained 15 teenage girls - minors - forcing them to testify against their parents." He condemned these actions as those of a despot rather than an ally or NATO member and labeled this violation of basic rule of law as unacceptable.
