Rep. Torren Ecker of Abbottstown is collaborating with the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office to organize a seminar aimed at preventing fraud against senior citizens. The event is scheduled for February 7 at 10 a.m., taking place at the Nicarry Meetinghouse of Cross Keys Village in New Oxford.
Ecker highlighted the prevalence of scams targeting older individuals, stating, “Everyday scammers actively target older residents in fraud schemes. These are heinous crimes perpetrated by people who are, sadly, difficult to catch.” He emphasized the importance of educating residents on identifying and avoiding fraud as a preventive measure.
The seminar will feature a representative from the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office who will explain various types of fraud and provide tips on prevention in an accessible manner. Seniors, along with their families and caregivers, are encouraged to attend this free event without prior registration.
