Memorial Park in Chambersburg is set to receive a new sensory learning pathway, funded by state resources. Representative Rob Kauffman (R-Franklin) announced his support for the project, which will be financed through the Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program.

Kauffman stated, "State funding in the amount of $49,000 will enable this important project to be completed." He emphasized the importance of accessibility, noting that public parks should cater to everyone. "Our public parks and recreational areas need to be accessible to all and this new pathway will ensure those with disabilities have access to fun, engaging activities at the park," he added.

The allocated funds will go towards purchasing and installing sensory learning panels and music chimes. Additionally, there will be repaving and widening of a pathway within Memorial Park. The initiative aims to create an inclusive environment for individuals with disabilities by providing adequate play opportunities through specialized playground equipment and ensuring wheelchair accessibility.

This funding was granted by the Commonwealth Financing Authority under its Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program.
