Senator Doug Mastriano of Pennsylvania has reintroduced the Right to Bear Arms Act, a bill designed to prevent the enforcement of new federal restrictions on firearms within the state. The legislation aims to block any federal mandates related to firearms, magazines, and ammunition that could be seen as unconstitutional. It also seeks to ensure that state or local resources are not used in enforcing such mandates.

Mastriano emphasized the historical significance of the right to bear arms, stating, "From the battlefields of the American Revolution to the homes of modern-day Americans defending their families, the right to bear arms has stood as a pillar of the right to self-defense, self-preservation and liberty."

Pennsylvania's constitution has long recognized this right even before it was enshrined in the Second Amendment in 1791. The state's constitution explicitly states: “The right of the citizens to bear arms in defense of themselves and the State shall not be questioned.”

Mastriano criticized efforts by politicians pushing for more restrictive firearm policies. He remarked, "The right to bear arms is not just a constitutional issue; it is a fundamental human right. If history has taught us anything, it is that disarming people is the first step toward oppression."

The senator pointed out actions by former President Joe Biden and states like New York and California as examples where restrictive measures have been proposed or implemented. These include bans on commonly owned firearms and proposals for gun registration databases.

"The Pennsylvania Right to Bear Arms Act isn’t simply a piece of legislation. It is a declaration that the commonwealth will always stand for freedom," Mastriano concluded.
