On March 21, 2025, Perry addressed accusations regarding Medicaid policies involving Elon Musk and DOGE cryptocurrency supporters. He clarified his stance on Medicaid reform by stating: "The new war cry for leftist activists is that Musk/DOGE and, apparently, I are trying to “kill Medicaid” and “take it from those who need it…” What I have long and stridently tried to “kill” is the rampant fraud and abuse that plagues Medicaid."
