Session 3 - read the section "Picking Sweetgrass" – p 119-201 (83 pages total)
Do you miss the days of summer reading programs? Here is an opportunity to participate in a campus wide summer book club and expand your knowledge of indigenous culture and the plants with whom we live!
Everyone on campus is invited to read and participate in an ongoing discussion of Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teachings of Plants. Summer is an ideal time to slowly absorb author Robin Wall Kimmerer’s voice, in advance of her campus visit on September 19, 2022.
The book is divided into five sections, so we will host five discussion sessions throughout the summer. Come as you are available, whether that is to one discussion or all five.
Meetings will be at Painted Turtle Farm (near the Three Sisters Garden) from noon to 1 pm on June 20, July 5, July 20, August 4, and August 19.
In case of inclement weather (including high heat), the discussion will relocate to Musselman Library. Be sure to register to stay in the loop about last-minute changes.
