HARRISBURG – Senator Doug Mastriano has announced that a state grant of nearly $300,000 will be allocated for the restoration of the Plum Creek watershed in Adams County. The grant, provided through the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) Watershed Restoration Protection Program, will support the restoration project and the planting of riparian buffers.
Senator Mastriano highlighted the significance of Plum Creek as a vital waterway for the surrounding community and its residents. He expressed his commitment to protecting this community asset for both current and future generations to enjoy.
Conewago Township will be the recipient of the grant, which requires the applicant to contribute 15% of the total project cost. Funding for the program is made possible through the 2012 law that established an impact fee on Marcellus Shale natural gas wells.
The Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA), an independent agency of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, awarded the grant. The CFA was established in 2004 to administer the state's economic stimulus packages.
This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to safeguard and restore Pennsylvania's natural resources. The restoration of the Plum Creek watershed will not only enhance the local environment but also contribute to the overall well-being of the community.
