Senator Doug Mastriano has announced the allocation of over $4.3 million in state grants for projects in Adams and Franklin counties. The funds, distributed through the Commonwealth Financing Authority’s (CFA) Local Share Account Program, aim to support public interest initiatives, community improvements, and economic development using gaming revenue from casinos.
“These grants provide essential funding for things like firetrucks, dump trucks, infrastructure improvements and other projects that benefit residents in our communities,” stated Mastriano. He emphasized that these funds assist local governments in delivering services without increasing the financial burden on taxpayers.
The CFA operates as an independent agency under the Department of Community and Economic Development and oversees numerous programs focused on economic development and community improvement across Pennsylvania.
Additionally, a grant was awarded through the CFA’s Public School Facilities Improvement Grant Program. This program supports facility enhancement projects within public school districts and area career and technical schools. Notably, Franklin County Career and Technology Center received $1.5 million to replace approximately 11,200 square feet of roofing on its main building.
Mastriano expressed gratitude towards his colleagues for their collaborative efforts: “I specifically want to thank Rep. Rob Kauffman for working with me to secure funding for the firetruck for Franklin Fire Co. No. 4.” He also acknowledged Rep. Dan Moul's contribution towards securing funding for the Carroll Commons Park improvement project.
