State Representative Rob Kauffman announced the allocation of $2.7 million in state funding for community projects and local schools in Pennsylvania's 89th Legislative District. The funds come from the Local Share Account (LSA) and Public School Facility Improvement Grant (PSFIG) programs.

"Our local municipalities and schools work hard to provide safe, healthy facilities and services for the communities they serve, and these grants go a long way in helping to afford needed repairs and upgrades," Kauffman stated. He added that he was pleased to advocate for these grants, which aim to enhance efficiency for first responders, provide affordable housing, and improve student facilities.

The funded projects include $327,465 allocated to the Chambersburg Police Department for purchasing police vehicles, mobile data computers, and license plate readers. Habitat for Humanity received $225,395 to acquire land for affordable housing development. The Marion Athletic Association was granted $50,988 for equipment to maintain sports fields. New Franklin Volunteer Fire Company will use $675,000 towards acquiring a new fire engine.

Kauffman also collaborated with Senator Doug Mastriano to secure $677,000 in LSA funding for Franklin Fire Company No. 4. This funding will facilitate the purchase of a Pierce Enforcer Custom Pumper Fire Engine.

Funding under the LSA program is sourced from the PA Race Horse Development and Gaming Act through the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA), aimed at supporting public interest projects within Pennsylvania.

Additionally, Kauffman advocated securing $791,841 through the PSFIG program for roof repairs at Fayetteville and Scotland elementary schools within the Chambersburg School District. This funding is managed by the Department of Community and Economic Development for eligible school facility improvements.
